Some lessons apply to multiple areas of life. It isn’t always apparent which areas, so it’s a lesson that will repeat. That’s kinda vague, isn’t it?
Never say never.
Seems straight forward, right? I like to think I use that lesson well. I apply it broadly in terms of opportunities or trying something new.
Some of my fave days were the result of a spontaneous yes.
Naturally, there comes a point after I claim I’ll never do something that Fate decides otherwise. Back when Musk started with his fuckery in Twitter, forcing many people into the arms of Mastodon, I proclaimed loudly that’s where I was going. I also proclaimed I would not touch other certain platforms.
- TikTok
- Goodreads
Twitter is getting worse by the day, and I’ve made the decision to swallow my declaration. I’ve set up an Instagram account and a Goodreads account.
In the coming days or months of continued fuckery, I’ll try out other platforms. BlueSky is at the top of my list right now - providing I can get an invite. Maybe Reddit? I’m not sure on that one since so much of Reddit has gone dark.
I really don’t want to tempt fate by saying I have no desire to join TikTok, but…I don’t want to do that. Will I ever learn my lesson? Facebook will no doubt be a necessary evil at some point, but not right now.
In short, I’m not settling on one platform yet, and if you’re on Instagram or Goodreads please add me, or comment with your username and I’ll add you!
Or if you really don’t like either of those places, where are you going? Can I come too?
This state of flux in the world of social media platforms is…weird.
